Yarrambat Preschool
Yarrambat Preschool approached us to build their very first online presence. As a not-for-profit/educational organisation, they received our discounted pricing on website design and development, and they also chose to register their domain name and have their website hosted by Trystal Tech.
The preschool had some great ideas on what they wanted for the design of their website – a theme of gum leaves, since this is a rural kindergarten, and the little stick figures coloured and used as their logo. We brought that design into reality, using soft greens offset by brown to keep the gum leaf theme going.
“Christina was fabulous to work with. She did everything we asked straight away – nothing was a problem. And we absolutely love our new website. Thank you Christina.”

Thornburn Ladies’ Badminton Association
Thornburn Ladies’ Badminton Association advertised for a website developer for their own foray into the online world. As an avid badminton player myself, I jumped at the opportunity to help them build their website. The goal of this project was to create a place for all of the association’s members and players to be able to visit and see weekly scores for each player, track their team’s progress throughout the season, and also to check on fixture dates, and finding phone numbers for replacement players. The website also had to be easy to use, as many of their members were unfamiliar with computers and the internet.
Privacy was a major concern in the development of the TLBA website. With all of the player’s names and phone numbers uploaded, we restricted viewing to registered players only. Anyone is able to view the team fixtures and ladders, however the players in each team, and their individual scores, are only visible to TLBA players who have logged in to the website. In addition, each player can choose to hide their phone numbers from other players, and have them only visible to the committee members.
At the beginning of the season, teams are created by the section co-ordinators, and then a match fixture is automatically generated between the dates entered. Each week, the section co-ordinators print off a blank scoresheet, pre-filled with the player’s names for the match. At the end of the day, they type the scores back into the website, and the team’s position is automatically updated on the ladder. At the end of the season, the top teams are automatically divided into the finals matches. At any time, section co-ordinators can view up-to-date statistics on players, sorted by rank, team or overall score.
With so many great features included in the website, we held a training session with the members of the committee on creating teams, entering scores and viewing statistics. As well, we wrote up a short reference page that users could refer to if they found themselves stuck. Overall, the feedback has been extremely positive, and the players are using their new website on a weekly basis.
“Thank you so much for taking the time last Wednesday to acquaint us with the workings of our website. You have put a lot of time and effort into its development and we are delighted with it. The writing of those very detailed notes must also have taken some time and we are very appreciative.”
